Sunnen Products Company has once again demonstrated its leadership in high-precision bore finishing with the entry level HTA Tube Hone, an all-electric machine designed to set a new benchmark in tube honing performance replacing manual honing for tube applications. Specifically designed for rebuilding of hydraulic cylinders. With more than 375 units sold globally, this innovative machine is transforming industrial processes for a wide range of sectors, including hydraulic cylinder repair, by delivering enhanced precision, efficiency, safety, ergonomics, and operational capabilities.
What sets the HTA Tube Hone apart is its all-electric design, which not only ensures quieter operation but also eliminates the risk of oil leaks and heat buildup and provides superior control and accuracy during bore reversals over hydraulic machines. The compact footprint of the machine means it saves valuable floor space, making it an ideal solution for facilities looking to maximize efficiency without sacrificing performance. At the core of the HTA Tube Hone is an Siemens Servo Stroker Motor with steel reinforced Belt Drive, which delivers both quiet and precise operation. The 3 HP spindle unit, paired with a servo stroker capable of speeds from 5 to 90 feet per minute, provides ample power for resurfacing and repair applications, with spindle speeds ranging from 20 to 300 RPM.
Efficiency and consistency are further enhanced by a programmable auto tool feed system, while a 55-gallon paper media coolant filtration unit ensures clean coolant is always available, improving honing performance and extending the life of abrasives. The HTA Tube Hone also puts a strong emphasis on ergonomics and safety, reducing the risk of injury associated with manual honing. Operators benefit from easy to use controls combined with a Siemens PLC and a large color touch screen, which allows for intuitive control over all machine functions, including stroke reversal, speed adjustments, and cross hatch calculations. The stroker joystick enables precise positioning and stroke length adjustments during setup, and the stroke control override feature makes it possible to short-stroke any part of the bore for cleanup in tight spaces.
Flexibility is a key strength of the HTA Tube Hone, thanks to its swiveling operator station and user-friendly interface, which supports multiple languages and metric/inch conversions. Additional features such as a load meter for identifying tight spots in the bore, a universal chain vise work holding system for quick and flexible part fixturing, and an integrated work tray all contribute to a clean and efficient workspace. The machine is also compatible with ANR-275 tooling, allowing shops to use existing stone supports, master holders, and abrasives, which helps reduce tooling costs.
Sunnen Products Company’s commitment to innovation and quality is evident in the HTA Tube Hone, a machine that exemplifies advanced technology and high efficiency. As a global leader with a century-long legacy in precision manufacturing, Sunnen continues to provide comprehensive solutions that address the evolving needs of industries worldwide, reinforcing its reputation as a total solutions provider in the field of bore sizing and finishing.
